2. User Responsibilities & Safety
Children's Beds (Cribs & Toddler Beds):
-
Follow assembly instructions exactly. Improper assembly can cause entrapment, collapse, or serious injury.
-
Use only the mattress size specified for the bed frame (no more than two finger widths gap).
-
Do not add pillows, blankets, bumpers, or soft bedding — these violate safe sleep guidelines and are banned by the Safe Sleep for Babies Act (SSBA).
-
Never use crib bumpers or inclined sleepers — these products are banned in the U.S.
-
Always register your product using the attached registration card per 16 CFR Part 1130.
-
If you experience any safety incident, report it to CPSC
Guardrails (16 CFR Part 1270 Compliance):
-
Confirm compatibility with the child's bed manufacturer before installation.
-
Follow installation instructions exactly. Improper installation can cause entrapment leading to serious injury or death.
-
Never use guardrails with top bunks of bunk beds, loft beds, or beds not designed to accommodate them.
-
Always supervise children — guardrails are not a substitute for adult supervision.
-
Inspect guardrail hardware regularly; replace if any part is damaged or missing.
-
The required warning label is permanently affixed — do not remove.
Mattresses (Flammability & Labeling):
-
Do not remove the law label — removing or defacing violates federal law.
-
Keep away from open flames, candles, and heat sources.
-
For infant mattresses (crib mattresses): Always place baby on back on a firm, flat mattress; follow 16 CFR Part 1241 (ASTM F2933) requirements.
-
The Safe Sleep for Babies Act prohibits crib bumpers and inclined sleepers.
